The challenge
Soft fill across most of the plot and a canal edge that had to carry a private dock. The ground as found would not take the loads.
The solution
Excavated and replaced the fill, then a piled edge beam along the canal to carry the dock independently of the house slab. Marine-grade concrete specified throughout for the waterline elements.
The result
Handed over four weeks inside the contract programme. No settlement recorded at the canal edge since completion.
